Coloured Egg Shell Mosaic
Using eggshells is a great way to modify traditional Mosaic artwork. This is a fun creative craft to work on fine motor skills and attention to detail.
Ladies Manicure
Many women enjoyed being pampered throughout their lives. A fun way to relax and connect with your loved one is to provide a simple manicure. It helps with emotional well-being throughout the process. And the end result is nice nails to show off!
Music for Reminiscing
This program will encourage meaningful dialogue within the encouraging and inspiring construct of music. Reminiscing with music can improve memory stimulation and support a positive life review. Try to share the thoughts, memories and feelings that are sparked during the music.
My Story
The purpose of this activity is to compose and compile an individual’s Life Story. This can be completed by a caregiver with the care receiver. My Story is a great opportunity to reminisce about significant life events and life review, help the author show others who they are, what they enjoy and what is important to them. (The Document/Scrapbook can be used as the person moves through various care settings.)
Plant Propagation
Gardening is a very important past time for many people. This program is helpful with general knowledge/understanding of horticulture. The purpose is to build self-esteem, to stimulate the senses and to motivate participants. It can promote socialization, provide an age-appropriate, pleasurable experience, as well as provide an opportunity to nurture. The best stem cuttings come from plants such as Tradescantia (wildflowers), Geraniums, Coleus and Cape Primrose.
Reminiscing
This activity builds positive relationships through therapeutic reminiscence. Participants focus on memories from the past, discuss them with others or the leader of the group, and share stories.
